Danesh Dermatology has been performing laser hair removal with the FDA-approved LightSheer Diode laser for over fifteen years, treating more than 7,000 patients.
Our revolutionized Gold Standard LightSheer features vacuum-assist technology and is effective and painless. The LightSheer enables us to treat the back and legs comfortably in about 20 minutes, making hair removal simple and without anesthetics and gels.
No topical anesthetic required
Reduce treatment times by up to 75%
Depth of Penetration
Larger spot size enables greater depth of penetration, for improved absorption of energy at the target follicle. The only laser with unique and dedicated technology for pain reduction, enhanced efficacy, safety.
Versatile
The LightSheer DUET includes two optimal wavelength 800 nm diode hair removal systems on one versatile platform. The LightSheer's dual heads enables permanent hair reduction from all areas of the body. Its advanced technology reduces pain while increasing efficacy, enabling fast and comfortable treatments for patients and practitioners.
ChillTip™ continuous contact cooling
Pulse widths up to 400 ms
Largest spot size of any diode for faster coverage
Integrated vacuum-assist technology
No cooling or anesthetics required
Treatments
Highly controlled flashes of laser beams are selectively absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles lying below the surface of the skin. The absorbed light heats the hair, which damages and destroys the regrowth potential of the follicle- all without damaging surrounding tissue. Hair follicles are usually in different growth cycles at different times in relation to one another. Since the follicle must be in active growth in order to be affected by the laser, several treatments spread over several months are required to assure the destruction of all hair follicles.
Laser hair removal selectively kills hair follicles, or the structures that grow hair. Each session destroys the follicles beyond a point of repair, and thus hair will not continue to grow. Laser hair removal is a treatment that can be used on any body part, for all skin types.
This laser uses state-of-the-art diodes with vacuum-assist technology to remove unwanted hair with greater speed (faster treatment times) and comfort than other methods. Also, it is virtually painless. Therefore, there is no need for using numbing cream.
There are three phases in the lifecycle of a hair: which includes Anagen (growth phase), Telogen (resting phase), and Catagen (falling out phase). Only during the Anagen phase, the laser can destroy the hair follicle (also known as the dermal papilla), heat it up and destroy the hair permanently. Not all the hairs are in this phase at the same time, so multiple treatments are necessary.
The LightSheer laser has been cleared by the FDA for hair removal and permanent hair reduction on all skin types. To achieve a satisfactory level of reduction, generally between 7 and 9 treatments spaced 4 to 8 weeks apart will fully remove about 80% of hair in the treated area. The follicles that absorb the laser will likely never grow back.
Some of the hair follicles may go dormant and could reactivate with hormonal changes or as the body naturally ages, but these hairs will be lighter, finer and less dense. In some occasions, the hair follicles are resistant to treatment or may need more treatments or they may regrow later on, usually due to hormonal imbalances.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why are multiple treatments needed?
Seven to nine treatments are needed because the laser affects only hair in the Anagen phase. Time is needed for hair in the Catagen and Telogen phases to move into the Anagen phase.
Q: How does the LightSheer Diode Laser System work?
A: The system emits near-infrared laser light that is absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicle. The laser is pulsed, or turned on, for only a fraction of a second. The duration of each pulse is just long enough to damage the follicle.
The High Speed LightSheer produces a larger beam of highly concentrated light. The light emitted is well absorbed by the pigment located in the hair follicles (melanin). During the hair removal procedure, the laser pulses for a fraction of a second, allowing the hair to absorb the light and heat up. As the hair follicle heats up, the hair shaft and bulb are damaged. This significantly reduces the hair’s ability to re-grow, and results in permanent hair reduction over time.
Dramatically increased treatment spot size for faster coverage
Vacuum-assist technology significantly improves treatment comfort
No topical anesthetic is required, which eliminates lengthy preparation
No treatment gel is used either, saving additional time
High Speed LightSheer reduces treatment times up to 75%
The LightSheer Duet also offers the highly respected LightSheer ET with contact cooling for smaller treatment areas. Combining these two options on one versatile platform allows us to customize treatment to meet your individual needs.
Q: Why should I use the LightSheer Diode Laser System rather than other methods I have been using?
A: The LightSheer Diode Laser System's design provides for enhanced comfort during treatment, minimal risk of infection, speed and accuracy. Since the system uses a unique vacuum and cooling handpiece, it minimizes skin irritation that other methods may create. It is non-invasive (no needles to penetrate the skin). Because the system is fast, it allows for larger areas to be treated, considerably increasing the efficiency of the hair removal process. Finally, the LightSheer Diode Laser is a precise instrument that can be adjusted to damage only the hair follicle while minimally affecting the surrounding skin.
Q: Does the LightSheer work on tanned or different skin colors?
A: The LightSheer diode laser system safely and effectively treats all skin types (Fitzpatrick Skin Types I-VI) as well as tanned skin. For darker skin types and people with tans, appropriate fluences are generally lower and appropriate pulse widths are generally longer to prevent damage to the epidermis. With using the appropriate treatment parameters, people with all skin types can benefit from laser hair removal with the LightSheer.
Q: Are the Results Permanent?
A: The LightSheer laser has been cleared by the FDA for hair removal and permanent hair reduction on all skin types. To achieve a satisfactory level of clearance, 7-9 treatments are typically required.
Q: What to do prior to coming in?
A: Prior to your treatments, all areas that you would like to laser, except the face, need to be shaved well the night before or the morning of the treatment. If there are hairs on the body, they may get hot and burn your skin. For the face, since it is usually hormonal, we would like to see the hairs prior to lasering them.
Also, please make sure to let us know if you have had any recent changes in your health, are pregnant, started any new medications (either prescription or over the counter), or recent sun exposure.

Q: What to do after your treatment?
A: Avoid the sun for about a week post treatment. Use sunscreens
SPF 30+ and physical blockers such as hats. Do not use any irritants on the face for 48 hours.
